::Questions and Answers::

Can you please tell me what an innovative scheme? who can apply for it? what are the criteria for selection?

Answer

Innovative schemes are GPVTS schemes that are slightly different to the traditional schemes which consist of 2 years in hospital (4 six month jobs) followed by 12 months as a GP Registrar.  There are many innovative schemes, with different structures.  Some have 6 months of GP Registrar at the start and then 6 months or 1 year at the end. Others have 18 months of hospital jobs and then 18 months of GP Reg.  There are some schemes with 1 year of hospital jobs, followed by 1
year as a GP Registrar with placements in various hospital
specialities and then a final GP Registrar year.  Appointment and eligibility criteria criteria are exactly the same as any other VTS.  Innovative schemes are becoming more popular.
